54ème édition pour ce salon Allemand "Essen Motor Show" qui se déroule à Essen en Rhenanie du Nord - Westphalie, en plein centre du bassin de la Ruhr. Ce salon faisait la part belle à Mercedes avec les 70 ans des modèles SL et les 55 ans de Mercedes-AMG.
Ce salon est considéré comme le plus grand évènement annuel du genre en Allemagne.

54th edition for this German show "Essen Motor Show" which takes place in Essen in North Rhenanie-Westphalia, in the center of the Ruhr basin. This show gave pride of place to Mercedes with the 70th anniversary of the SL models and the 55th anniversary of Mercedes-AMG.
This exhibition is considered as the largest annual event of its kind in Germany.

Patrick Tambay vient de nous quitter ce week-end à l'age de 73 ans.
Il débuta en 1972 en remportant le volant Elf, il démarra sa carrière comme celà se faisait à l'époque par la formule Renault. On le voit ci dessus à Montlhéry en 1973 au volant de l'Alpine A 366 Formule Renault. Par la suite ce sera la F3, la F2 puis la F1 où il pilota pour Théodore, MacLaren, Ligier, Renault, Ferrari et Haas Lola (Béatrice racing). Il remportera deux grands prix de F1.
On le vit également en Canam où il remporta deux championnats, il s'essaya également aux 24 heures du Mans et sur le Paris Dakar.
La relève est assurée par son fils Adrien qui est impliqué en DTM et en GT.

Patrick Tambay has just left us this weekend at the age of 73.
He started in 1972 by winning the Elf challenge, he started his career as it was done at the time by the Renault formula. We see him above in Montlhéry in 1973 at the wheel of the Alpine A 366 Renault Formula. Thereafter it will be F3, F2 then F1 where he drove for Theodore, MacLaren, Ligier, Renault, Ferrari and Haas Lola (Beatrice racing).He won two F1 grand prix.
We also saw him in Canam where he won the two championships in 1977 and 1978, he also racing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Paris Dakar.
Succession is assured by his son Adrien who is involved in the DTM and GT.
